May Message from Greg Johnson

Dear Friends, Fellow Family Caregivers and Readers,

April 30 was a day we will long remember. Thanks to EmblemHealth and the New York Academy of Medicine, approximately 300 people gathered to explore family caregiving. The theme was Name It; Know Its Many Faces. The audience was truly a family caregiving collage – medical professionals, social workers, social service providers, diverse clergy, graduate students and family caregivers. By their presence we can truly exclaim: “we are all in this together.”

It is our sincere hope that this event will become an annual experience and celebration as well as a noted point for “connecting and networking.”

Last month, the attached video found its way to me via email and I wanted to pass it along.  It is simply brilliant. The Cleveland Clinic used this quiet, statement of truth to showcase their daily life and work. Now imagine if we did the same in any corporation we are seeking to serve? Who is being cared for? Who is a caregiver? Who is a care recipient? How differently would we act and react if we were in their shoes?

Family caregiving unites and we are all in this together…walk onward!
