March Message from Greg Johnson

Dear Friends, Fellow Family Caregivers and Readers,

This month I am sharing an article with you that has just been published by The Living Church, a national publication of the Episcopal Church. It in truth combines my two “collars.”

For nearly the last 15 years, I have been privileged to serve as the Creator/Director of EmblemHealth’s Care for the Family Caregiver initiative based here in New York City.   EmblemHealth, the New York based health insurer and health and wellness company, has been serving New Yorkers for over 75 years. When I joined the company, much of the focus as was traditional was on cure…today our focus is care…specifically what care feels like.

The mandate for outreach was: employees, members and the community at large. This website provides a targeted outreach to corporations of all sizes. Studies show that corporations lose between 17 billion and 38 billion dollars a year. Based on this study and a generous grant from EmblemHealth, the NYCP4FC Corps was created to bring attention, resources and possible solutions for employers and employees alike. For at one time or another, we are all family caregivers.

Please also mark your calendars:
A Free Family Caregiving Summit – “Name It; Know Its Many Faces” will be held at the New York Academy of Medicine.
